If latch is broken, try 303016 Spring latch with 524624 adapter
Replacement Option 2:
P2000-35SPL, Single Point lock or Hoppe 35/92 Single Point Lock 1-3/8" Backset & New Handle Set ( several options) & flat Strike Plate
( Lock Case Depth: 2 inch, 2-1/8 from faceplate )
The P2000 option is the most expensive, and may require a little more work, but it provides the best results.
New 2025 - Hoppe # 11880259 has 7/8" wide faceplate on their 1-3/8" backset lock with 1" throw deadbolt
