- Kerf
- The gut or groove manufactured in a door frame, window frame or sash, which houses weather stripping. The kerf normally measures 3/8" deep by 1/8" wide (saw blade width).
- King Stud
- For rough-in frame work; the 2x4 located outside of the cripple stud which is positioned vertically between the top and bottom plates. King studs are used for support for window and door openings.
- Krypton Gas
- An odorless, colorless, tasteless, non-toxic gas, found in our atmosphere, that is about 12 times denser than air. It is used to replace the air in insulated glass units when a higher R-value is desired. The heavier-than-air gas reduces the convection of heat through the glass surfaces. (also helps with noise reduction)
