Master Frame (Buck Frame)
The sides (stile), top (rail) and inside bottom portion of a window. What remains after removing the trim, sash and sill of a window.
Marine Glazing
A method of sealing glass in a Window or door frame. A rubber U-shaped "boot" is placed along the edge of the glass. The window or door frame is then placed over the boot covered glass. To remove or replace glass, the door or window frame must be disassembled.
Mortise
A recessing or insetting of hardware such a as hinges so as to make the hardware flush with the surface of the item it is installed on.
Muntin (Grid)
Vertical, horizontal or diagonal decorative wood strips used to give the appearance of individual panes (true divided lite glass). A muntin is normally manufactured as a unit ("insert") and secured to the inside sash using grid pins.
Meeting Rail (Interlock Rail)
U-shaped channels attached to the fixed and active panels of a sliding patio door. When in the closed position, the channels from the two panels interlock to provide a weather (air and water) barrier.
MC-15 (Lumber)
Indicates moisture content not exceeding fifteen percent.
