Constant Force Coil Balance, with Pivot Block brake shoe, 1/2" wide single spring coil, sizes # 3 to #10
The spring coil is attached to the balance brake shoe with a screw. The weight number of the spring is stamped into the metal coil. ( hard to see, may need magnifying glass)
Coil Balances should always be replaced in pairs.
The #3 coil spring for window weights of 4, 5, 6 pounds.
The #4 coil spring for window weights of 7-8 pounds.
The #5 coil spring for window weights of 9-10 pounds
The #6 coil spring for window weights of 11-12 pounds
The #7 coil spring for window weights of 13-14 pounds
The #8 coil spring for window weights of 15-16 pounds
The #9 coil spring for window weights of 17-18 pounds
The #10 coil spring for window weights of 19-20 pounds

Constant Force Balance comes with single, double or triple coils.
Single Coils are stamped with numbers from 3-10, Double Coils have numbers from 4 to 8 and Triple coils 5-8
Each assembly is built for different window weights
How to calculate / choose the correct balance
1. Weight the window sash (The window sash is the part of the sliding window that moves up and down, it includes the frame and glass.)
2. Divide the weight in half, this is for 1 side of the window
3. Select 2 of the weights needed, Coil Balances should always be replaced in pairs.
Example: IF the window sash weights 18 pounds. You would need 2 -9 pound coils, 1 on each side of the window.
