How to Install an Atrium Lock

The Atrium door company unfortunately is out of the wooden door business, but AllAboutDoors carries a selection of Atrium door hardware . Once you have purchased your Atrium lock, the following steps will help you with installation.

  1. Insert Atrium lock into the cavity in edge of the Atrium door.
  2. Check the bevel of the latch. The beveled side must touch the jamb. If the square side of latch hits the door jamb, use the following steps to reverse the latch on your Atrium door lock. If not, you can skip these steps.
    • Depress latch and hold in to expose screw inside of the Atrium lock case.
    • Remove Screw.
    • Carefully remove latch and rotate.
    • Insert latch and replace screw. Tighten screw slowly making sure that the end of the screw lines up with slot in lever (on the opposite side of the Atrium lock) and fully tighten the screw.
  3. Install wood screws to secure Atrium lock in place.
  4. Place the escutcheon against the side of the Atrium door. Insert the cylinder through the escutcheon and door. (Note: cam lobe must be flush with the cylinder body. This is done by rotating the knob.) Secure cylinder with retaining screw.
  5. Place the gasket over the cylinder body on the outside of the Atrium door. Place the non-slotted screw through the outside escutcheon. Screw the threaded tube on from rear.
  6. Insert the spindle (with notches down) onto one lever handle and tighten the set screw securely into the notch. Slide spindle through the Atrium door. Attach the bushing and the inside handle. Make the second set screw snug but do not over tighten. (Note: Set screw location may vary in notch to control end play.)
  7. Place the strike boxes into the cavities of the door jamb. Locate the strike plate on the door jamb and secure it with 3 wood screws.
