DOUBLE ACTING FLOOR SPRING HINGE

The double acting floor spring door hinge is designed for

Wood doors 1-1/4 to 1-3/4  thick weighing up to 77 pounds.

The floor hinge swings both ways, with old open feature at 88 and 116 degrees.

Exclusive alignment screw to center door, and tension screw  for weight.

Easy Installation – Tools Needed:

Drill with ½ & 3/32 drill bits

Saw and/or jig saw

Screwdriver #1 and #2

Wood chisel

Preparation of door

         Round the edge of the vertical side of the door to a radius of 1-1/2 inches.

Installing Pivot:

         Install the Pivot in the head jamb and the Bracket in top of door.

The center of Pivot is 1-1/2 inches from side jamb, the center of bracket would be 1-1/4 inches from edge of door – this leaves ¼ inch between door and jamb. The floor hinge needs proper clearance to allow the double acting hinge to swing.

Installing double acting floor hinge:

Cut out the bottom of door to accommodate the floor hinge.

Mounting door with hinge installed:

Tilt door and insert upper pivot into mounting bracket, slide the bottom of door into place. Adjust position and screw to floor.

Adjustment Screw:

Adjust tension of the spring based on the weight of the door. With round rod provided. Turn to increase or decrease.

Adjust alignment for centering of door with screw driver.

Install Cover Plates:

Check the operation of  double acting floor hinge. Adjust as needed for proper performance.

Install two cover plates on each side of floor hinge.
