- Identifying Hinges for Horizontal Adjustment

- Notice: Horizontal adjustements are made by using one of the hinges
as a pivot point. the pivot point should be the horizontal part of the
door that is most centered in the opening,
- If panel is square in frame, then all hinges will be adjusted equally
to center door in opening.
- If panel is not quare, determine at which hinge, panel is most horizontally
centered in opening. Theis point will be use as the pivot point and other
hinges will be adjusted in proportional distances to make panel square
and center in frame.
- Determine from chart the number of rotations each hinge requires to
stay proportional.
- Turn clockwise to narrow gap between door and frame, Clockwise = -.
- Turn counterclockwise to increase the gap between door and frame, Counterclockwise
= +
- Determine the Required Adjustements
- Notice: Make all horizontal adjustments first. Horizontal adjustments
correct most problems. Vertical adjustments are rarely needed.
- Horizontal adjustements move panel side to side and center panel in
opening.
- Vertical adjustments move panel up and down to center the panel in
opening.

- Turn horizontal adjusting screw counterclockwise to push the door away
from the frame.
- Turn horizontal adjusting screw clockwise to pull the door closer to
the frame.
- Tighten All Hinges
- Tighten position fixing screw on all hinges by turning them clockwise
until snug.
- Check the tightness of all the horizontal adjusting screws by turning
them counterclockwise until snug.
- Vertical Adjustment
- Notice: Adjust hinges with door slightly open. thesoo should be supported
by all hinges to make sure of maximum hinge performance.
- Slowly turn vertical adjustment screw on each hinge 1/2 turn.
- Continue to adjust hinges until door is centered in frame.
- Equalize the load on the hinges by turning each hinge clockwise until
it moves the door slightly, then turning it counterclockwise 1/4 turn.
- Blocker Adjustment
- Make a pencil marke where the top of the latch bolt strikes the latch
receiver.
